I really need the outside door window stainless for the 53. It is the only shiny stuff I'm missing. Anyone able to help me out?

It's being reproduced, I think our host has it. Haven't used any yet so can't comment. The foreign made stainless seems to be thinner when I have used it.

Rus- the only time I have seen it was once on eBay last month and it went for $99.99 + $25 shipping. It had some small dents like mine, but it seemed pretty hi priced to me. I have also seen it in primed metal as a re-pop. Larry

I would say get in touch with Jimbo59chevy. He probably has it. I have had good experiences buying used parts from him. You can find his info on the Stovebolt site. He always advertises "parting out 47-59 truck in Texas" or something like that. also has a store on eBay as well. I had no idea those pieces were reropduced. I was missing one side only and bought the whole door from a guy in the next state for $40.00. He didn't want to hassle with removing it so just sold me the door.

Most vendors sell a repop version of them in steel, but I don't think that they are available in stainless! I could be wrong!

Buy them used , make sure NO DENTS , then polish 'em to a mirror like finish with stainless steel polish .

if they have dents , use a wooden stick with a rounded end to push or bump the dent out from the backside .

It's amazing how stained and grubby they can look but still easily polish to like new shine .

As my '49 is just a crappy old work truck , I hunted down cheap dented ones and polished 'em up , no one notices the dents....

Okay, so how do you take them off and re-install them on a different door? Looks like a big job to me.

There is only one rivet in the joint at the top. Drill it out,Then they fold in enough to get them off of the channel they sit on.

    Yeah, but...

...doesn't the vent window assembly have to be taken out to do it?

I think they will come out from behind the rubber, but I haven't taken one off yet with the vent window.
