Hey guys! I thought I'd give you an update on my project '65 short/step. After what seemed like a long search, I found a "decent" '61 hood complete for $40 at my local Pick-N-Pull. Once I took the hood home and stripped it clean, I found about a thousand dollar's worth of bondo covering a warped spot right in the middle of the thing between the tunsignal pods. I really couldn't see this from the back too well since there is a brace that runs right up the middle of the hood obscuring my view. I took the offfending piece(the whole thing)to my auto body repair class to see what could be done to fix it, if anything. I was told that yes, it could be fixed, but it would take the entire spring semester to do it! It was time to look for another hood. My dad suggested putting an ad in the classifieds for the hood I wanted. I kicked myself for not thinking of it long before and put in the ad. No calls. . . until the last day for the ad. A guy said he had one with the "eyebrows" that I could have for $70. Since his description wasn't very descriptive, I was praying that he had the right one. He did! Hooray, all is well, except for some rust that needs to be cut out and patched, it ain't no big thing. That's my main project now.
-I also found a '61 grill to put on with everything except the headlight doors. I now know how to weld(kinda). I found a big back window cab for a '64 with a rusty floor(once more, no big deal)for FREE. I have free time. I feel like I'm all set to go. It's coming along! I'll be done any day now! I hope! Back to work!
