Bout to start on a 55 Ferd.....I can't get away from them! Anyhoo, It is for a Marine who is deployed in the 'Gan. He wants it to look like the Expendables movie truck.

I have located a 1996 Cobra Romeo 4.6 DOHC engine and 5 speed. Anyone know how to make it run in a hot rod?

Russ, check out West Coast Customs!

The trucks that were featured in the movie were customized by Ryan Friedlinghaus of West Coast Customs. They did an episode on the build a few years back. They built 3 trucks, one for Stallone to drive, one good truck for movie close ups and one for stunts. Sly auctioned off the truck that they built for him at BJ and it fetched $132K!

See if you can get a copy of that episode as it would be a great starting point for your build!

Oh, and by the way, thanks for taking on this project for one of our vets! You da Man!

I have a year. I told him I would meet him with the keys when he gets home.

Fatman is kicking in some deals to help out. I am looking for others who would like to help get this done.

Russ, there are several ways to use the 4.6/5.4 Mod engine in old rods. To keep all the computer controlled engine stuff you can get a stand alone harness from "The Detail Zone" and they will re-flash the control module from the donor car to get rid of all the unwanted crap. Tell them if your want the Ford non return or Corvette return type fuel system. Next is you can get an engine controller from MSD that will allow you to use either a carb or efi. Sullivan and Edelbrock are offering 4bbl carb intakes for the Mod engine and there are several that offer a stand alone distributor. I like the Northwood GT intake adaptor that allows you to use anything that was offered for the 289/302 Windsor. On my 34 I'm using the MSD which only requires two wires (cam position sensor & crank position sensor) plus one vacuum hose to a MAF which can be mounted out of sight. You keep the coil on plug set up. Picture shows the 302 intake adaptor with just an old factory iron intake but will end up with a Cool Parts eight stack electronic injector set up for the WOW factor. Was going with a dual 4bbl set up with the secondarys disconnected on both carbs since a 4.6 (281ci) can only use 600cfm at 7500 rpm and even two 390 cfm Holleys would be too much. I wouldn't respond on this Chevy truck site but for a returning vet I believe we should all do what is within our ability to do. For a lot of info on the Cobra set up go to www.modularfords.com and click on their forum. Hope this helps. Oops, just re-read this and realised everything except the tip on The Detail Zone requires the 1999 and up heads with four intake ports. The "Televak" setup from the Detail Zone will make one run like scat. Also tossed in a pic of a 31 Model A we used a 4.6 in---tight fit.

YEAH, HATE TO POST ON A cHEVY FORUM, but the Ford guys don't seem to have many answers. Great link. I have also spoken to Hotwire about a harness/ reflash. Thanks.
