Does anyone know if this is as big a deal as some say and should it influence whether to restore or rebuild. I am just getting started on the body which is in pretty good shape and quite original.

The numbers matching thing only infulences the value when the truck, or other vehicle, has been COMPLETLY restored. AKA Frame Off restoration. Otherwise, the fact that it is numbers matching will bump the value only slightly.

Look under the seat, up inside the springs for the build sheet. If you are lucky, it will be there, if not , not a big deal. You can oder restoration packages from GM. Rumor has it that they provide them free of charge.

BTW, I am much more excited in the fact that it may be the original engine, etc., than any value increase.
