O.K. , I was told to download this and run it repeatedly , (I'm trying to de bug a LapTop W/ VISTA) , I am doing so but how to know when it is done and I should stop repeatedly running it ? . I also tried to download it onto this desktop 'puter but no icon ever showed up even though this unit seems to work O.K. if slower the last few days. I just what I'm asking for is : step by step instructions I can print out , for dummies ya know . TIA ,
Download location I believe that, if the download completed successfully, you'll find it in the downloads folder.... C:\Users\<your user name>\Downloads I don't have Vista, but you should be able to open the start menu, right-click on 'Computer', select open. Double-click 'Local disk ( C: )', navigate to the path above and double-click on the downloaded file to install.
I run c cleaner and it works great. Find the program, open it and create a shortcut for your desktop. Start, my computer, program files, c cleaner. Right click on the icon. When the dropdown box opens left click "create shortcut". When you run the program, run it twice, then click the X to close it. Not sure of the exact procedure for vista but it should be similar.
Thanx ! On the desktop running Firefox , I followed these instructions and Lo ! there it was ~ I ran it and the 'puter speeded up a lot and seems O.K. now . OTOH , the Vista Lap Top , The documents folder is *empty* and I have no idea where to find the downloads folder...... . I'm trying to find and install , AVG FREE 2011 on that 'puter as it's *so* slow , I know there's still a bug in it somewheres . TIA , remember : ' idiot guide ' format please .
Also go find Bulldog and run it, I find having two different products clean the computer more garbage gets caught. Then uninstall the bulldog and run the AVG.
Another Idea for a faster Computer. Download and run Malewarebytes Anti Malware.(Freedownload) Then Download and run Smart Defrag. (Free download) Then download and run Microsoft Security Essentials free from Microsoft. It runs in the background and uses fewer resources than AVG free antivirus.
Getting There I'd downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials some time ago and that says it's A-O.K. ~ B.S. says I because the activity light never stops and it's *very* slow to load pages etc. I hope to try the Malewarebytes thing the next time I fool with it , as usual I'm backed up on works and just got my GMC going again last night , now it is time to sort & load up old VW parts for Sunday's PO-Mona Swap Meet , work on my Metropolitan Nash FHC , Mercedes , drive to Lancaster to see the Poppies before they're gone , work on SWMBO's Mercedes , fix the short circuit on my Honda CT90K2 , on and on and.... I sorta took Sunday off and wrestled with the LapTop all day . FWIW , I ran the CCleaner on SWMBO's DeskTop 'puter and it's much faster now , had been slowing up a lot recently . I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP ! .
Avg I can telll you for certain that if you buy AVG and put it on your Credit card your CC company will call you and ask if you actually bought it> I bought two of thier products and within minutes I was called. I guess this is not a bad thing that the CC company is looking out for fraudulent purchases. Bill
