odd engine serial#

Finally got to cleaning up my 62 235 inline 6. Found the serial # behind the distributor but it doesn't seem to match up with anything. The number is: SO124XXM. Anyone have any ideas????? There's gotta be one serial # expert out there!:'(

I don't believe the number you found is the block casting number.

Look again and check here for the reference.
