hi all, i have just rebuilt my speed o and cluster gauges, now at some time in its life the oil pressure gauge had its sender pipe cut off, i see at the back of the gauge it screws into the main body, can this be replaced, can you buy replacement sender tubes? i have looked on line but found nothing, or do i have to replaced the gauge as a unit. thanks for any help you can offer it is always appreciated,
    steve.

    Oil pressure gauge

I bought the 1/8 copper tube at the local autoparts store. It came as a kit with compression fittings.

The nut should take a 5/16th's wrench to screw it out of the back of the gauge and will have a tapered end that pinched down on the tube the first time it was tightened. I think it is smaller than 1/8" but don't trust my memory but instead measure the little bit of the tube that is passed through the tapered point nut. If our host doesn't carry these special nuts let me know because my local parts store does.

PUT A WRENCH ON THE SQUARE NUT ATTATCHED TO THE GUAGE. Do NOT crank down on the fitting that goes into it, as the square nut WILL pop off....ask me how I know????? Tighten it just enough to stop it from leaking and leve it the hell alone.

    Oil Gauge Tubing

    IIRC , it's 3/16" .

DO NOT use copper tubing ! it'll crack and leak one fine day  .

You can buy cheap plastic tubing gauge installation kits anywhere aftermarket gauges are sold , they'll include new Ferrules and all the other Hwe. you'll need . every 5 years or so the plastic tuing wil rot and begin to leak  .

I'd hunt up the correct steel tubing , GM truck dealers should have it .

I use Stainless Steel tubing so it'll never rust .
