Im on round 3 of oil pan surgery. How can i mount the gasket the easiest please? 4 piece gasket. quite frustrated.Does a single piece gasket exist? Motor is in the truck. its a 235 54 chevy.. Ugh . Im certain someone here has sure fire time tested tip.... Please and thanks.
Here's what I've had good luck with. Clean the gasket surface really clean and degrease with thinner or solvent---not gasoline. Apply a thin coating of Gorilla Snot (3M Yellow w/s adhesive) to both block and gasket and let dry completely. Now apply a second coat to ONE side only---either block or gasket and press together. Let set over night. It will now take a hammer and putty knife to remove it so you sure don't have to worry about bumping it out of place with the pan. If it moves you didn't have it clean enough.
Gasketing I was going to say the same thing but to use " Gaskacinch " ~ gasket shellac made right here in good old El Monte , Ca. according to my 25 year old , still going strong can of it...
3m product "Gorilla snot" Evan . I laughed about the nickname but does this product replaces the gasket or...? Martinius.
