today i drove the first longer distance with my new engine and found that the oil pressure is swinging. If i drive is about 42 psi. if i stay it's about 15 psi. normally???
235 Oil Pressure Yes , this is normal as these are high volume , low pressure engines . After a total rebuild including new cam bearings , cam and so on (a lotof pressure is lost through old cam bearings) the pressure might be 23 # @ cold idle and over 45 # off idle but in a few thousand miles it'll drop back down to close to the peg @ hot idle and 15 ~ 35 PSI when Motorvating on down the Autobahn . I hope this helps .
Boy Nate you leave this one wide open for us GMC guys. Still have 45-55 psi fully warmed up going down the road. gotta love that 228
261" oil pressure Get the 261 if you want high oil pressure, or the 292 for a little more horses. The 261 will peg a 60-psi gauge at hot idle.
Well maybe?? I am learning to love the looks of my GMC more and more. That big bold grill. Did you ever notice that the new Toyota Tundras grill looks an awe full lot like my GMC grill. Sorry volker to hijack your thread, but us GMC guys have to get a shot in every now and then. Sounds like Nate answered your question.
Toyletta Trucks Yep ; Just like in the old days , the Japanese know a good thing when they see it and copy it....
Thank you ! This is the basic DIY message Ive been trying to impart for many years now , sadly some insist on doing things the hard way......
