    Hello everyone,

This being my first post, I thought I'd open it up with a doozy (?).

First off, I just bought a 1975 Scottsdale - V8 350 Automatic. The engine was rebuilt about a year before I bought it, and its a strong runner. Body is in so-so shape, straight but was used as a work truck. I'm redoing the interior now with stuff I ordered from the site. More on that later...

I bought the truck because I'm moving from Los Angeles to Texas, and I wanted something to haul my motorcycle in.

So here is the kicker.. something I've been thinking about and it would be fun to get other's input. I already know this thing is a gas guzzler - but what things can be done to the truck to increase the mpg? Because I'll be taking such a long trip, even small increases like 1-2 mpg goes a long way.

    Things I've thought of:

    1. New tires, properly inflated of course. (Is there a better PSI for long distance?)
    2. Less aggressive driving style. I already drive this like a granny around town - jackrabbit starts seem to really drag the needle down.
    3. Waxing the paint.. the air will slide right off! (kidding)

Are there other mods that people have done to their old Chevys that squeek out more mileage? Other than buying a NEW Chevy?

Cheers - glad to join the board and look forward to bsing with other Chevy owners.

    -Robert
