This truck building business is a blast but it sure eats up time(and money). I just finished up the rear end with a gear change from 390 to 338, complete overhaul with new bearings, etc. after having it blasted and powdercoated. I'm ready to install it on the bare frame as soon as I get the time. This commits me to staying with 6 lug wheels so its off to the parts supermarket to price a complete rebuild for that torsion bar front end. I read a post a while ago about removing those bars and they do come out with heavy doses of penetrating oil and the tender love of a 20 lb. sledgehammer (carefully!). I did think about going with an aftermarket front end but they don't offer 6 lug and its custom fab time for the engine mount to stay with my 261 6. By the way I had asked about front discs on the 62 with the manual trans and found a place that sells a system for the brake and clutch with no modification to the firewall, so big problem solved. I guess I'm on track to finish sometime in mid 2004 as long as I pace myself (save-spend-save-spend....). Bill
Keep it up Bill !! Your method is a good one. Start with a budget, develop the plan to do what you want as dictated by the budget. Stick with it and you will be more satisfied with the results.. Keep us posted. Dennis
