Does anyone know where to find Keenserts" with lockin' wedgies........., they are used in the aircraft industry for wallered out bolt holes, Or has anyone used them for striped out bolt/stud holes instead of using heli-coils?
MSC handles them, Ccharr. We buy a boatload of parts and supplies from them every week...a very good supplier. http://www1.mscdirect.com/eCommerce..._re=Category-_-BodyLink-_-Key+Locking+Inserts That's a long URL...make sure you copy all of it. I've not used them before. How thin of material are you bolting to?
I was told they will work in the block of a 9N at the exhaust manifold, the second stud hole in from the seat just spends. I was told they will work better than and install easier the heli-coils, ( thaken from another forum, ........."Kleen-zerts" are the answer to yer prayers. DO NOT USE "heli-coils". Both are replacement threads but "Kleen-zerts" are "staked in place" and do NOT need a lotta meat to hold in place like "heli-coils". )I do not have any room in the garage to work on stuff much, or the tools and I'm really tired f paying people to ---- up stuff just so I have to refix it later when my felling good enough to. Here is a sot of the room I have if I work on the tractor in the garage, and a shot at the block the red bolt is in the hole to keep the antifreeze in.
Thanks Nate, just need to get it running better so I can sell it. It has always been a money pit for me.
Just up the street from where I found the sick one but it was 1/3the price of the red and silver one. Here is a shot of the 9N on the trailer on it's ay in the morning to get the hole fixed, the first photo shows a neighbor boy looking at the tractor. I do not have the room or tools to do either the keensert or the helicoils. And also a shot of it when I took it out of the desert this year after being there for 5 years. It did not run at that time and took a lot of work to get her to start, it had not ran in over 2 years.
For some reason I can not get the link to work. 6-6-11. But today 6/7/11, it seems to be working ok. Great site Thanks BC 3600
