Yeah.. that's a bummer. On a side note: I feel better about that big dopey full face shield I wear now. ______ John
Safety first! A machine shop I visit often has a pair of safety glasses on display with "Think you DON'T need Safety Glasses?" printed below them. One lens is fractured where a cutoff wheel impacted it. Glad you are OK.
I cut my left palm a few years ago, when all of a sudden, the disk got stuck in a piece of steel tube and the grinder threw back at me. I was lucky, not to loose any fingers, but senses are still not back in all of them. Learned a lesson also, wear protection!!
Many years ago (40?), my Dad was doing bodywork on a car, and the grinder got caught (maybe in a body seam), and then bounced back at him. Three times. He wear the scars on his bicep to this day. My (soon to be) stepchildren call me Mr. Safety because I always have a set of earplugs in my pocket, wear ballistic chaps anytime the chainsaw is running, and wear prescription safety glasses (side shields too of course) whenever power tools are in use.
Teach them well Mike. Got a three inch scar on my thigh and hearing aids. PPE was not even a thought when I started in the shop. I bark at the kids in the plant every time I see one of them cheating! Papy
Guess I'll pick up he full face shield... I'm just glad your tough enough, Robert! Got your new drive shaft yet?
Picked up my face shield this afternoon and went back to cutting metal tonite. Still a little skidish but I finished what I was doing. Zig, haven't got to the driveshaft yet, side tracked house hunting. We made an offer on one so back to work on the truck. Gotta get it finished by next month, a few of us from another site are getting together for a cruise/car show/ luncheon.
