I have been fortunate enough to acquire a 3 speed with 0verdrive, This manual transmission has an governor and a electric solenoid. (that works when bench tested).

Two questions, the transmission is a GM made unit that looks very much like Borg - Warmer 9 bolt T-85 or the Saginaw units. But it’s a GM 4 bolt (4 bolts at the access plate to the shifting levers.

My two questions are, The electric solenoid is connect too what, I have seen where a head light dimmer switch has been used to operate the overdrive solenoid. Is the voltage a 12-volt constant?

Also second question the governor is broken, can I just remove the unit and place a cover over the access area?

May additional information on the year? Of this unit would be helpful, thanks fellow trucks, keep the history alive
