Hi all,

I'm looking for some opinions on HVLP paint guns. I want to purchase a new gun (or kit) and learn to paint however I don't want to put money out on a cheap "learner" gun. I would rather purchase a good gun from the start.

Any suggestions on a good gun or kit??

currently looking at Devibliss, either the "startingline" or the "finish line" series... found a finishline "masterkit" for $189

I have also found the SGW (spraygunworld.com) but the reviews are 50/50

Thanks

The Devilbis set is no doubt a good set . I Prefer Binks #7 ole style guns Myself .

But If You Want a good Quality gun Without paying for the name & Much more Reasonablly priced parts when needed I,d suggest the 2 gun kit ( one for Primer & one for paint ) From Astro .

IMO its as Good as Any gun out there Today & There aint Many I haven,t used . I Started using them for Crap Paints & Primers & Very seldom even touch any of My other guns anymore cuz These Just shoot to darn good , Easy to care for & Perty tough , Dont Know how many Times I,ve Dropped Mine & Never hurt it a bit . Best of luck. Heres the link . Bob :D

Thanks Cowboy, That set looks better than what I have been looking at and still affordable.

would you suggest I spend the money one owning 1 single "good" gun with a couple of different tip sizes or would you prefer to own (& maintain) two guns as provided in that kit?

Thanks

I Would get the 2 guns If I was You . & Keep one dedicated to only Primers & such . & the Other for bases & Clears . Just My Opinion . Best of Luck no matter which way You decide to go. Bob

Looking forward to getting started, I have a few small projects (eco air meter, mini bike for my daughter, etc.) to learn on before starting on my truck!

Your panel looks sweet, always liked panels.

Cheers

i just bought a SATA JET 3000 with a 1.3 needle tip. about $500. but i will say it is the best paint gun i have ever use or owned. i got it to use at work and man i like how every thing flows. big spray patern. great on blinding and pearls. dont think ill ever go it a nother gun. i use my cheaper guns for primer. just my 2 cents.

Harbor Freight sells an economical spray gun that does a good job the part number is #43430. They sell 2 that look alike make sure you are looking at this model. I bought 2 of them a few years back when they were on sale for $20 ea. I'm not sure what the normal price is now, it may be as much as $60. If you are not in a hurry wait for a sale.
This is by no means a $300 gun but it works well if the posted directions are followed.

Thanks for your help guys.

Today I purchased an HVLP spary gun from NAPA autoparts for $119 on sale from $180 CDN. it's a 1.4mm with a nice green anodized finish for my base clear applications.

I also located a 1.7mm primer gun for $50 from the local auto supply shop who will give a money back guarantee if not happy with it. Figured I can't go wrong trying it out!

I'll post my thoughts after I try it out a few times...
