paint on dash

    it is time to renew and redo the dash, i was wondering what i might be able to use to strip the paint of the metal and the plastic?

    1974 chevy shorty
    built 350
    12 bolt posi 3.88 gears

    For the paint on the dash pad, look for plastic safe paint stripper at a hardware store, then scrub it well with a tsp solution or denatured alcohol to clean it. I also wouldn't reccommend buying the cheap vinyl paint at local auto parts stores, I haven't had much luck with those and will probably be buying SEM brand vinyl dye. I've heard people say they've had better luck with that and I believe that's what Chevy Duty sells.

    As for the paint on the metal part of the dash, tal strip is supposed to be pretty good, but you can use just about any paint stripper.
