Painting interior door panels

I just bought a pair of old door panels so I could upgrade my truck to power windows/door locks. The only problem is that the panels are grey, whereas the rest of my interior is black. I bought some vinyl paint, cleaned them with some diluted detergent (as the paint reccommends) and painted them, and for the most part they look pretty good; but there are some areas where tiny spots are showing up where the paint just runs. I've tried recleaning them and lightly sanding them, which worked for the driver's side panel but the other side still runs. Anyone ever dealt with problems like this?

Chances are, the panels have been treated at one time with armoral or some kind of wax. That has to be completely stripped off before you can paint it. TSP works well but all residue has to be removed before painting.

You will also need to spray the panels a little at a time and shake the can often. Sevearl light coats versus one or two heavy coats works a lot better.

Thanks, I did scrub the panels the way the paint recommended prior to painting and after I saw the spots, but I guess it didn't get it all off. Hopefully the TSP will get better results.

you can also try wax and greese remover from any parts store,just be sure to wipe it off again before the solvent dries, I have found this method to be very effective.
