...or Power Brakes and Juice. I love the clean look of a firewall without the power brake booster, but is there anyway to fill a power booster under the floor without pulling up a rug- should you decide to put one down? Remote fill? Thanks for your thoughts!
Hey Zig, anyone who can root for the KC Cheifs ought to be able to figure pb&j out! Admit it, I made you laugh. $189,900 and you can be my neighbor! Come on down! Tomball ISD is looking for a few good men!
As usual! You're right- figuring out the PB&J problem should be easier than figuring out how the heck I could be a die-hard Chiefs fan after all the years of crap they put me through. Must be that Texan owner that keeps us going. I hope his family gets their wish in the form of a miracle. We need Lamar and his vision. Thank God it's warmer again. I'll be workin' on my frame again this weekend!
Hey Zig I have thought about this same delima with my truck. I want a clean firewall so I thought about my power brake setup under neath. The only thing I can think of that will work for say topping it off would be a bulb primer like a john boat motor has. (You know the tube from the fuel tank to the motor with a squeeze bulb in it) This is how that I fill some of our transmissions at work and it really works well. I think I might try this route and see what happens. Nothing like a shaved fire wall to me. Zig I think you're rooting for the wrong team. You should be wearing that Titan blue right Ken. It's funny how the worst team in the NFL is starting to make a comeback. Now that I've said that then Jacksonville is going to stomp our heads in and then the Bills and before you know it the wild card is no longer ours. Maybe the chiefs will get it together next year.
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin! Feel that? That was me slappin' you upside da head! It may be hard to believe, but we played this perfectly. We'll end up in the big game because the Chargers have Marty! Any Chiefs fan knows how he gets when the planets align themselves. How many rings does he have? Anyway- interesting thought about the primer. But how do you make sure of fluid levels? On the wall, you can see/check. Under the boards, whaddahey?
Oh yeah well we have Pacman (if he can stay out of jail) and Haynesworth (if he'll stop kicking people). Maybe the Titans should play against the Metro Police. That would be an interesting game. As far as the fluid levels go, use a new style plastic reservoir instead of the old metal ones. You can see right through them when you put a flash light to its side. If you need a little put it in with the pump, If too full then turn the pump around and pump a little out. Sounds simple enough but you know how that goes sometimes.
Seeing as my silver and black have a new offensive coordinator, we're going to the Super Bowl right????? Oh, wait, I guess we actually need an offense to coordinate first. Maybe next millenium. Mumble, mumble, mumble.... under breath!! Damn K.C. fans.... Just kidding. On to business. Zig, the remote mount reservoirs look really good. There are some aluminum ones, with cool lids. You can even run braided style hose if you want. I have the under floor booster, and may go with one. As for now, it is possible to climb under and pull the lid off and check the level. You just need a mirror, and a light. For extra safety, I recommend you use a low pressure warning light. Easy to hook up, and you could easily hide the lamp inside the vehicle. Just a thought....Mike
Silver and Black? Boy- that was bold! (I was kind of pulling for Art Shell though...) Thanks for the tips Mike. I guess when you put it all in new, you shouldn't have to worry about "the level" for a long, long, time. But brakes are kind of important. I guess the mirror thing is how most people have to do this with the under-the-floor-finished-inside master. (Power or otherwise) So did you stick with the original pedal?
That's a great idea about the light. I never really thought of that though most new cars have them. It would be simple. The cap has a float on it that has two wires. The lower the float gets the more resistance and kicks on the light. Good thinking Mike.
I was thinking about the same problem and was looking through the Classic Trucks magazine (or something like that) when I noticed an advertisement for a master brake cylinder mounted the the stock location with either a plastic or chrome reservouir persumably mounted on the firewall. I think the company was classic performance parts or something similar (CPP?). They were fairly pricey, especially the chrome one. Dave
you could pick up the latest issue of hot rodding and see how they welded in a small tray onto the frame of a early 60's corvette to hide it from being seen. ________ ACURA RL
Cool, Brit! That is a great idea. I'm not sure what the size is, but I'd bet there could be room back there. It's something to think about. I've seen the remote fillers, but I kinda like the idea of a sensor... I shouldn't be Zig, I should be WFW. Wishy Friggin' Washy! I get going with one idea, then it's hey- that's cool! 3 things drive my direction. Can I do it myself? Is it practical? How much that duck cost? I knew this had to be one of those things that ya'll could go a hundred different directions with. It's interesting what creativity you come up with to this -problem-? Thanks!
Wishy washy isn't always bad Zig. As long as you don't spend a lot of money and then decide nah, I'll do something different. That's when it will get costly. I think we're all a little wishy washy sometimes, but when you come down to working on that part of the truck then you'll make up your mind. Good to find out things now, before ordering and thinking oh crap that won't work.
Especially when you have a 4 year old and a SWMBO! My SWMBO was hitched before... to a motorhead... who spent everything on his '57. She ended up hating him AND PEOPLE WHO LOVE FIXIN' UP CARS!!! But then again, her first hubby couldn't build crap outa' wood. It boils down to what's important. I believe I've said- I don't know- abunch? You guys with your thoughts/ experience have already saved me a s---load of $$$ without spending a penny!
My SWMBO has never really been around it much and don't understand why that I want to spend that kind of money on an old truck. But she know's that it's what I want to do so she lets me. She sometimes doesn't think I can ever finish it (maybe because I'm so young to be trying to restore something so old) but she has never seen what I can do before so this is a good way to prove to her I can do it. Just can't wait to pull up to that Good Guys show with her by my side.
