    Tempting, ain't it???

The answer is...NO. The car rear end is MUCH narrower and cannot be made to fit. I actually had one in my yard, taken out of a running, driving vehicle and given to me free. Oh, how I wanted to make it work, but after much measuring and pondering I realized it just wasn't going to happen. I didn't even get to measuring the length of the torque tube, although I have heard it is also of different length than the ones in our trucks. The different width was enough to tell me it wasn't going to work. Sorry to bust your bubble, but like Zig says, I been there and done that.

Yeah, the funny thing is if we weren't so into having the trucks as original drivelines, it would be easy. Especially if you have a 4-speed. Easy to swap out just the rear portion of the SM420 to turn it into open driveline and then slap in any old camaro rear end with a higher ratio. But, alas the torque tube throws us for a loop and limits us to very expensive gear sets from Patrick's (not to forget the equally expensive installation kit) and the labor costs of the installation as well.

I wonder where Patrick gets the gears from anyway. He doesn't have them manufactured himself, does he. SOMEBODY has to supply HIM with the gears, don't they?
