I have a 1955 1st series truck with the original 235. I want to add power steering but I'm not sure how to mount the pump & altenator. The altenator is mounted where the old generator was I know I will have to move it & put the pump lower but I'm lost as to how to mount them both, Any help would be appreciated. I don't like fighting the manual steering so the up grade would be very welcome.
    Thanks Steve

I have a '61 235 on a stand waiting to go into my '50 5-window truck. I too wanted to mount a power steering pump and alternator on the engine. So over the winter I made up some brackets and got them both mounted. I have my alternator mounted where the generator was and the p/s pump above it. Your idea of having the alternator above and the pump below makes more sense. I can't recall if I tried that or not. I may have to take another look at that setup. I can send you pictures of what I've done if I can get your e-mail address.

Look up 1962 Chevy passenger cars with 235 as they had an alternator that year along with power steering so the brackets were made , should be possible to duplicate them , been a _long_ time since one of those cars drove into the shop tho' .

Might be good pix in the factory shop manual , I know there's a site with old car manuals OnLine...

I know Low Riders here in So. Cal. scrap out the 235's from '62 Chevies when they make them into low riders so there's gotta be an engine just sitting somewheres with these brackets on it...

Realize this will impact power quite a bit as will adding AC .

I will check into that model engin brackets. As for loosing power I have allready instaled fenton headers, & offy twin carb intake setup. I have purchased the new Mallory stovebolt unilite distributer & coil package so that hopefully will solve my power loss problems.
    Thanks Steve
