I am using a late 60s variable ratio power steering box on my 65 C10.i believe the gearbox goes all the way to the mid 70s. I can't remember what pump I have. any recommendations as to which pump would be the best fit to run the lines the neatest way?
It depends on a few things. first are you running a small block or a inliner engine? Second if it's a small block, do you have a short or long water pump? If you are running a small block with a short water pump you will have to run a 72 or earlier PS pump and brackets. I recommend finding a 67-72 Chevy truck with everything still intact and use those parts on yours. Power steering pumps are tricky to install and to get the belts and pulley's to run in line I recommend using studs in the block so that when you install the pump it makes it easy to remove and place shims on the studs for proper alignment. If you are using a small block with a long water pump then you will need the 73 or newer pump and brackets. I hope this helps...... Big Tim
Perhaps the details on the attached link will help identify the power steering pump you already have. http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/images/Instructions/pspsheet.pdf
