Ok I have searched the old posts and read them all. Still clear as Mud. What exact color should my engine on my 1954 1/2 ton 235 cui engine be ? And also does anyone have the correct paint code/brand they used ? Thanks as always
Steve, IIRC your 235 should be painted blue. There are plenty of vendors who sell it both in the quart and also in rattle cans.
I got the blues! But that may not be right! I've looked at several different sources today and have come up with everything from gray to blue-gray to green etc. I'm going to continue looking. This is what makes this hobby, obcession fun. You ask 3 people and what get 3 answers. More to follow!
I bought a quart of paint from jim carter about ten years ago for my 54. The can says 1951-60 chevy blue (PNT116). The paint is alot better in quart form, alot better then the rattel cans. The 261's were painted green right?? Chris
261's were green . The 235's I recall were all grey in trucks , Chevy Blue in passenger cars... Why not paint it how you like , you're paying for it and as you can see , there will always bee some boob at a show who will loudly proclaim " HEY ! this ain't right ! it's supposed to be ORANGE "! .
Painted mine chevy blue, because 6 years ago that's way the Chevy Duty catalogue said was correct. See the blue engine in my photo gallery.
The debate will rage forever! This link should make it as clear as mud. http://1954advance-design.homeip.net/Web images/PPIP/PPIP-1912-1966-EngineColors.html
