I'm the proud owner of a 1953 Chevy 3800. Thank goodness I don't have a wife to tell me no.

Now, I just have to get out of Iraq and figure out how to pull it home. Some of the best adventures have started this way.

Advice?

Advice ? sure ~ GIMME that truck ! =8-) .

Looking good there , please be very carefull over there and remember this :

most Americans are VERY thankfull and proud of you for your service .

The giuys here know everything you need to to know about fixing up your old truck , never hesitate to aks questions no matter how simple or basic the question .

But not only the factory shop manual but also the assembly manual as the pictures in both will be invaluable when re-assembling somethign you took apart last weekend .

It is the best plan to get it running then do a full brake job and drive it whilst sorting out what it needs , this way you get to enjoy it whilst making up parts lists amd ' things to do ' etc., this keeps the interest level up and avoid the same old ' parts truck for sale cheap ' thing that taking it all apart too soon usually leads to .

Chevy Duty is a good supplier and the cheapest on the repop parts all the various vendors sell , great customer service too .

Lastly , this is a freindly group so sign your name for faster replies .

Thanks, Nate. I used to have a '63 stepside, and I miss that old girl dearly.

I was planning on getting the old six turning again and making it otherwise driveable first. I'm definitely not in a hurry to get it finished, but am also working on a want/need plan for it.

Take 'er easy! I'm taking it hard enough for the rest of us.
