Question about "61 Chevy price?

Hey all,

I am trying to sell a '61 Chevy (photos posted in my album)

It is not in the best condition (exterior wise) it needs a few things but other than that it runs!!

I want to sell as a whole wether it be for parts or as a project to restore.

Some info I have:

83,000 original miles
Standard Transmission (Upper Gearstick)

Engine is complete
Radiator and Alternator is all in good shape.
Original windshields in good shape.
Dashboard intact
Needs new clutch and battery, and it runs.

Exterior is not in the best condition
Needs new flat bed BUT frames are in good shape


Now my question is, What would be a good asking price?

The picture you posted is of a 1965 C10 Custom Cab, not a 1961.

Really hard to answer your question with just a couple photos? Looks really rusty

Is it a long bed or a short bed? Measure the length of the inside of the bed: 78-1/4" = short bed, 98" = long bed.

Probably needs new lower front fenders, floor pans, rockers, cab corners, etc.

If you have a title, and the title states '65 and not '61 and the title matches the VIN that is stamped into the plate mounted in the top of the door jamb, I'd estimate it's worth, at the most, $1000. That is if it is a short bed. If it's a long bed most folks will look for another truck, there are a lot of better candidates out there.

But if the cab has rust through above / around the windshield, or if the title doesn't match the truck, it's not worth much of anything as a whole if it is indeed as rusty as it appears.

Probably not what you were hoping to hear.

Maybe post up some more photo's so we can give you a more accurate estimate? Include photo's of:

Door open - photo across bottom of door jamb and at rear corner,
Floorboards where your feet would be,
Cab Corner - back of cab,
Cab above and around windshield from outside,
Lower front fenders,
Lower doors,
Grill,
Interior,
Engine,
Bed Sides,
Tailgate,
Under the bed and cab showing the frame.​

I can't get anymore photos unfortunately do to the truck being in a different town, a family member messaged me the photos. I'd have to talk to them and see about the title ect.

I'll let them know, he will probably end up scraping it sadly.

Well thanx for trying anyway ! .

As one who works on stock rigs , I can see that :

A. this thing is worthless , not even much scrap value because it's so rusty (collapsed bed etc.)

B. the engine and other small bits & bobs can be maddening to get ~ whenever I see a rig like this , I go to it first because usually they're un molested and have std. bore and crank shaft etc. as well as loads on hard to find special bolts , brackets and so on .

I'd ask $500 for it and grab the first ca$h I saw .

No , I am not offering you anything for it , I cannot use it .
