Ok what i have here is ; I have taken out off a 1955 Belair 210 2 doors with a 136 HP. Blueflame engine; Automatic 2 . powerglide transmission/clutch ; A guy in the nabourhood asked me for the transmission/clutch and if it will fit his 1954 modell wich also have an automatic 2 powerglide transmission. This 4 doors car engine has a Blueflame 115 hp engine also withe a powerglide tranny 2. and cluctch and though a bit smaller. Are the tranny and clucth innerchargeble beween these 2 cars is my question and what to do to get the swap it done ? Martinius.
Re:55 into 54 The transmission is not interchangeable because the 54 has an enclosed driveline and the 55 has an open driveline. If you crawl under the 54 you will be able to see the difference. John
Transmission swap. O.k. John .Thank you for telling me. I am going to follow your advice and pass on the information to the nabour . Regards Martinius.
Open or closed driveline ? Hey John Could you be kind to tell me differences between an open or closed driveline? Thank you Martinius.
Reriveline Martinius, the closed driveline consists of the driveshaft being enclosed in a "torque tube" which is fixed to the differential, with one universal joint at the transmission. The open driveline consists of a driveshaft which has two universal joints, one at the differential and one at the transmission. The open driveshaft is easily removable with only two u-bolts on each end of the driveshaft. Hope this helps. It is much easier to explain when you are looking at the actual systems. Have a great day,John
