After being away from my '51 3100 project for some time, happy to say I'm back at it. Yay!

So I've run into a radiator fitment issue. It seems the radiator is sitting too high and awfully close to the fan. Am I missing something here? I moved the radiator bracket as far forward as possible, but it still seems close to the fan.

Also I am wondering if I should drill new holes on the left and right side radiator mounting bracket and try lowering deeper into the bracket.

The radiator bracket is loose at the bottom in these pictures. I wanted to be careful not to have the fan hit the radiator fins.

It is supposed to be really close to the fan, just not hitting it. If yo have a 4 core radiator, they are a bit wider. Look at my assemble thread here I relocated the brackets to pull the radiator foreward.

    Thanks ol' chebby-

-I saw this https://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=9530&page=3 but I didn't notice the radiator mount relocation. Is it on another page?

-Looking at your radiator, it does seem to be located lower in relation to the radiator mounting bracket than mine pictured.

-BTW, your detailed posting is just great. I have referred to your posting many times. Your tips and helpful hints are just what I have needed. I have learned quite a bit from all the pages. Thanks for this, many times over.

    Radiator

It being so close to the fan increases the CFM's of air the fan draws through it

    Looks good to me .

I ran about 1/4" on my '49 and never had any issues .

    Lowering the radiator!

This is at any surcomstances no problem. I installed the short shaft pump and although the blades and radiator are quite close i tweaked the fan blades just a bit to have a safe distance. Then Lowered the radiator aprox. 5 cm in the frame because i think its better when centred versus the blades. The cooling is of no issue as i installed a 160 F thermostate in the235 ci housing wich i can recommend every one to do.

    Radiator versus frame ?

Yes after my opinion it is , but lowering the radiator in the frame is of no problem. Place it so the pepcock in the bottem goes free.
The bolts and nuts can be reused. Important to have the rubber sealing in between the radiator and bracket.Make some new holes and lower it , Remember that your rubber hose towards the thermostate housing has to be long anough to fit ! Martinius.
