hi i am from the UK and over here you can get any item for a small block v8 more or less off the shelf but its not the case for my 235ci Chevy straight six. now this brings me to the question do any of you know if any of the freeze plugs intended for the v8s will fit my straight six? as if they do i can buy them over here, many thanks for you help Steve
Steve, I replaced all my freeze plugs when I had the engine out. I just took the old plugs to the parts house and measured them and they were in stock. I forget now...maybe 1 7/8. I did not have to have a specific engine or manufacterers number. Try it you might luck out! Flashlight
Core/Welch Plugs If at all possible , use brass ones . When you have them out , tale a stiff bit of heavy wire like an un bent coat hanger or a welding rod and use it to probe / scrape / clean the water jacket behind the cylinders ~ you'll be amazed at how much scale is in there . Citric Acid Powder mixed with warm water makes a dandy de-rusting agent .
