rear axels

Just purchased a 1969 Chevy CST long box . I have 6 bolts axles in the rear. I want to covert to 5 bolts and was told that I can swap axles from a 1972 straight across and have 5 bolts . Has any one done this ? Thanks Rod

I am not sure but it sounds about right a disc brakes became available in the 1971 model year .

*DO* take the time to carefully count the number of splines before attempting to do this .
