I have an '87 K-5 Blazer and when I shook the rear tires back and forth they moved about a half an inch, making a thunk sound or when traversing bumps or taking sharp turns. I took the wheels off and the axle slides back and forth in the housing. I took the drum off, took the diff cover off, took the bolt out and removed the pin. I removed the "C" clip from the axle and slid the axle out. There was no thrust washer on either side, driver or pass. There was minimal, if not any, wear on the pin. When I look inside the spider gears, it looks like a capital "I" that the pin sits in, I think it's called a thrust block. Does that get worn out too? When I look at the surface that the bearings ride on toward the hub, It looks like it's riding about a half an inch too far out toward the wheel. I guess my question is, "What's worn out?" I can't seem to find what would cause my axle to travel that far in and out. I appreciate it if you've managed to read this far, I hope you can help me. Thanks, Bobby
