My 57 GMC 102 Spicer 45 has 200000+ miles on it and to the best of my knowledge has never been apart. Daily driven 105000 miles by me and never had a problem other than the noisey outer axle bearings it had when I bought it. Changed them out in 1990. Since then have changed rear end lube 4 times, otherwise no maintenance.

I'm very happy for you and your rear end, but your response doesn't help much.-Steve

If you go with a 9" the houseing you will want will be from: 65-66 Mustang, 57-59 Ranchero and station wagon, 1957-64 Ford. The strongest of these are the 65-66 Mustang's this is what I'm using.

I also have a 59 Apachee with a mustang 2 front and a 503 Rat. The rear end is somewhat of a mystery, I think it is original, and it has stood up to 600 hp for 3 summers. I am going to change it out for a 12 bolt posi with disk brakes. I wouldlike to know if anyone knows where to get a good unit from............thanks
