I caught the machine shop lying to me about the cost of the bearings so now I am questioning wheather the drums are REALLY out of tollerance. Does anyone know where I can locate the "new" measurments for the drums? 3/4 ton C-20, hubbed drums, 8 bolt, 11 5/32. I know anything over .080 of an inch is a no go. Where would I locate an inside caliper that friggin big? Thanks guys!
Pretty much any Brake Shop should have a drum gauge handy . Unless they're visibly paper thin or the brake pedal pulsates under your foot when breaking , they're prolly just fine . This is a Bendix system and I well remember my Bendix Factory Training guy tell us to " STOP TURNING & RUINING ALL THOSE DANG DRUMS ! " . Obviously if you're building (or have) a fire breathing monster , you'll prolly want to buy new drums otherwise , just check 'em pout well and don't get hosed . I bet Rock Auto.com has them cheaper , just make SURE to measure the width of the shoes as there are at least two , you want the correct ones for good stopping and longest life .
