Up through '54 the trucks had an enclosed drive line, after they went to the open drive lines. Therefore the location of the rear diff is centered differently.
The springs are same length and width. The differenece is the pin that holds the springs together and locates the rear end. The 55 1st spings have that pin pretty much dead center between the front and rear spring eyes. The torque tube version is I think mounted farther forward.
