Ok attempting to rebuild brake cylinder. The hydraulic end nut is frozen on, can’t imagine why a 60 year old nut just doesn’t come off.

I will attempt to heat it today but looking for ideas?

    Thanks, Denis

    Other end?

Yes, after 60+ years, nuts and bolts have their own idea of what will happen when you put a wrench on one. ;)

It's been to many years since I did this, and it was only once, but IIRC, there is a clip in the front (under the boot) that holds the piston/parts in place. Get this ring shaped clip out and you can remove the insides.

    Good luck with that!

Apply liberal swearing. It may not help, but tends to make me feel better.

If I am doing it correctly, I have removed the clip and the cup and piston come out but according to the diagram there are components on the hydraulic end also that need to be replaced. There is a small basket/screen and a piece of software. I may just rebuild the one end if I can't get it to loosen.

I see a rebuilt one is about $90 but I would rather do it myself.

I will give it a shot today.

You may hear some foul language from the east coast today, sorry!

Back on the Farm , when they were just ' Old Trucks ' , I'd use a pipe wrench.....

Be aware this leaves terrible " Mechanics Marks " , a thing I try hard not to do .

    Success

Ok big wrench, heat, hammer and a bit of patience and success. I cleaned it up and rebuilt it, Hopefully it will hold fluid once the system is back together.

I just spent a bit of time digging out the brake line that goes under tranny, a bit crude has built up over the years.

I am enjoying this project immensely. I suspect that I will not run out of projects for some time.

    Thanks for the tips. Denis

    Looks Good !

    Keep up the good work Denis ;

Once you get it road worthy , you'll find there's always things to lubricate and adjust , clean & polish....

Thanks, I think I finally am getting this semiretirement. Had to stop playing to do some real work. But the real work makes the money to play. Life is good!

Yes that is what started this, the truck was delivered with a broken line. I have removed all of them and cleaned up. I bought a prebent set and am now rehanging them. Denis
