Does anyone know how to hook up a remote starter on a foot activated starter? I've searched the archives both here and at Stovebolt, but don't seen anyone mention how (many say it can't be done, but the mechanic who briefly looked the truck over for me before I bought it used one to compression check the engine). It sure would be easier than turning it over by hand (even with the plugs out).

    Thanks

    Dave

If you have a true pedal operated starter , it cannot be done , the mechanic simply puts his hand on top of the starter and presses the lever down to operate it and crank the engine .

Remote starter switches can _only_ be used when there's a relay , pedal starters don't have any relay , that's that the pedal is for : to manually shove the Bendix into the flywheel's ring gear......

If OTOH , you have a solenoid operated starter and your pedal is just an electrical push button to keep the apearance , then it'll be simple to hook up a remote starter...
