Okay here is a silly question,

Any ideas on how to safely remove and replace the molding that runs down the center of the hood?

Mine needs to be replaced, but before I dive into it, I was wondering how easy it was to remove. Any suggestions?

On the underside of hood you will see a number of small tabs coming through from the trim strip. Straighten those with a pair of pliers and you can lift off the hood center trim strip. Welcome to the forum. Bill

If it has been painted over while on the truck, you may want to run a shrp razor blade between it and the hood to avoid lifting the paint off of the hood.

If I recall you first need to remove the front chevrolet hood emblem because the strip is trapped behind it.= then do like the other guys said. Just don't over bend the tabs when straightening them as they will break off (Don't ask me how I know). ;)

    James :

    # 1 : there are NO SILLY QUESTIONS ! .

Silly is when you fail to ask then break a hard to find part .

Use " Duck Bill " pliers when working with sheet metal and clips like this , they'll suffer less damage and be easier for you to work with .
