    Help please!

I am currently looking for rims for my 65. I want to keep the truck 6 bolt and I know the newer chevy rims are the same bolt pattern but the centers need to be cut out to 3 1/2 inches to fit.

should I cut out the centers to fit and use the modern factory chevy rims or is there another rim that will fit??

    I would like chrome rims

    Thanks
    J

If you want to use the later rims use SPACERS in the front. Don't enlarge the holes. Some say it will weaken the rim.
I used old school chrome reverse six bolt rims on mine, paired with baby moon hub caps. Fit fine with no need for spacers. The good news was I found them at a swap meet with Goodyear Eagel GT tires for $200. !!!

Swap meets are our friends !!!

Check out American Racing. They make a chrome ralley rims. They look just like the 200.00 plus wheel vintique ralley but they are chrome instead of zinc plated. I think I spent around 65.00 each.

I think I'm gonna break down and buy the rims and tires I want for the truck instead of trying to make something work and not being safe or happy with the ride.

    Thanks for the help!

Thanks 283 for the offer but I have stock 16" steel rims, however I'm looking for something 17-18" chrome with wider profile to fill out my wheel wells a little better.
    Cheers,

Leyland, I have a set of Eagle Alloy 589s 15x8 six lugs (5x5-1/2). I paired them with a 275/60R15 tire and the edge of the tires came RIGHT TO the edge of the fenders. My avatar shows my truck with those wheels before I changed them. Backspacing in 3 & 1/4. Look for a 17" wheel with similar dimensions. By the way, any spelling mistakes on here are not my fault!
