swap my my 411 for 355 ring is this this verry difiacolt on torque tube.i will get a overhall manual first.thanks
Realize that will get you just a little over 15% increase in speed at the same RPM. If you were running 55 MPH before, you'd be running 63.7 MPH at the same RPM with the new gear. That is assuming your engine can actually push that big chunk of steel through the air that fast. I'm just trying to point out that it isn't a huge change.
Bill is right, I did this and a lot of other guys as well. I still have a 216 in mine and I find it very nice on the 50MPH secondary roads. Realizing the 216 is a very low RPM engine to start with. I can once in awhile go 60MPH but I don't like it as the motor still winds too fast.I don't have much torque either, even with the Saginaw tranny as the ole' 85 HP 216 needed the high gears to haul a load. Now with a 235 as Patrick's advocates it would be a different story. Not sure what engine you are running. I think the pinion swap was one of the more difficult tasks, you will replace all the seals while doing it. So don't do it twice. Flashlight
Roger That! I have the whole Patrick's setup installed in my project. 235 (dual intake/exhaust), Saginaw and 3.55 gears. I have only test driven it on some back roads as the truck is not yet registered (or safe enough to drive for that matter). I can say it has some getup and go. Good luck with the ring swap!
