Hey everyone, I'm new to the site. Looks like a great place to be. I have a '66 C10 stepside 3 speed with a 350 V8 . It turns a lot of RPMs because it originally had the inline 6. I was wanting to put a new ring gear and pinion(correct me if I have the words mixed up) in or just a whole new rear end. I would prefer to just put in a new ring gear and pinion. What ratio do you think I should get? I would be doing some highway traveling. I'm wanting to save on gas milage because I'll be turning 16 soon and don't have one of those trees with money growing on it. Also were could I purchase a ring gear and pinion? At my local Napa or Auto Zone? I know some one that knows how to install it, so that won't be much of a concern. Also how much would getting a new ring gear and pinion cost compared to a whole new rear end. Thanks a lot for your time and help.

if your trucks like mine, you have a 3.73 rear gear.if so you will need a different carrier to change to a gas mileage rear gear.you would be better off finding a 65-69 junkyard rearend with a better gear.or change to an overdrive trans.
