Hi everyone,i have a problem,i'm restoring a 63 GMC stepside, and my first step is to replace all the rusted floor,so after i cut off the rocker panels,we noticed that right below the bottom door hinge,i guess this is called the door pillar, it is rusted beyond belief.
Does anybody know if there are patch panels for this area.I need to fix this area before replacing the rocker panels. Please help!!!!!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-04 AT 01:08 PM (CST)]I can't help on the patch panel. I've never seen any hinge pillar replacements for our trucks.

But, based on your description, another area to check is the roof. Why you ask? When the drip rail is compromised and starts allowing water to penetrate , water runs down inside the hinge pillar and rots it from the inside out. The same with the area where the floor meets the kick panels.

Trucks that have that type of rot frequently have problems with the front of the roof next to the drip rails.

I hope that is not the case with your truck.
