My cab has upper cowl rust holes as well as toe board to side of cowl rust at the pinchweld .

The rockers also have some small holes .

The rear corners are cherry , the floor , roof roof gutters & pinchwelds are all very good indeed .

To - day I found what appears to be a rust free (!) cab for $200 , they'll even load it after I strip it bare on th junked truck .

What to do ? .

I don't know if I can physically handle another cab swap .

Dip it, prime it, and paint it~ while you're at it! ;)

Therin Lies The Rub

I'm no Painter or Body Man , I'd have o farm that part out .

I still have plans to have the truck sort of restored but a rust free cab would $ave time , $ and effort for all involved .

I dunno.......

Hello Nate,
it's a question how extensive will be the welding work. If you get a good cab for small money, it will be better you chance it. Thats my experience.

Figure you will be over $200 in patch panels to begin with. Invite some boys over from the hood, feed them and get them to do some heavy lifting, teach them something about mechanics and have it done in a weekend.

Personally, I would save the time and money and get that good cab.

Nate

A wize man told me about 8 years ago that a rust free cab of a grain truck would bolt right on and save a bunch time effort and money. Man was he/you right. Sorry to use your own advise on you but you were spot on.

Thank you !

I guess the hunt is on ~ I looked closer at that cab and some goof tried to separate the pinchwelds with a cold chisel and mangled it ~ I'd never be able to look at that daily .
