I’m planning on mounting some basic lap only seat belts for my 51 pick-up. Can anyone recommend some mounting tips? I’m not even sure where to attach them. My truck is completely stock…
    Thanks,
    Geoff in So Cal…

You are wise to do this .

If you look in older posts you'll find quite a bit of info about proper mounting and placement , it is very important to use large ,oversized washers under the floor to anchor the belts .

NEVER attach them to the frame !

Crawl underneath the truck and measure , measure measure before you drill the holes for the bolts as you can pierce electrical lines or worse .

Typically the buckle is in the center and the blade is on the outside so when it gets dropped , the buckle doesn't wind up dragging on the ground .

Before you drill , sit in the seat with the belt fastened and figure out where will be the best place for you to run it between the seat cushions & mark it so you'll have a guide for alignment when the seat bottom is out for drilling...

Don't allow the belts to make sharp turns against edges .

Check out this How-to from Deve's website. It gives you the step-by-step. I picked up my belts from a late '80's Nissan pickup for $20.00 from the boneyard. They were even the same color as my truck (Bonus!!!). click the link below.

I like to run a piece of flat bar, 1/4" thick between the bolts, under the floor.....use grade 8 hardware, big fender washers, drill the holes through the floor, then mark and drill on flat steel.
