Alright my brother-in-law and I are currently restoring a chev. Some details: -rebuilt 350 engine from an old 75' Chevy blue, polished and black colors -raised 7' in back and 5' in front -2 year old white paintjob, shop that did it was horrible, so now I'm redoing a number of panels. -custom interior, black, gray and dark grey metallic with polished and chrome accents. -Chrome pushbar and frontbumper -gloss black grille -slotted taillight covers (painted to match) -wrangler tires with white powdercoated rims -pop lock doors, door panels flushed out -Custom under frame, interiot and behind grille blue light system So as you can see my colors are monochromatic (black, grey and white) with chevy blue. Now here is where I need your opinion. I'm an airbrush artist and I really want to do SOMETHING for the truck, but I want to keep it classy and clean looking. What would you do. I had actually thought about flames, but my bro in law isn't liking that idea. I was just going to do silver ghost flames on the white, and then perhaps a silver bowtie on eith side of the truck just behind the rear wheel wells. This is just my intial idea. What would you do?
Regarding your opinion request: the two finest paint schemes I've seen on trucks were (1) solid white in front with a graduating shade of lt to dk gray rectangles eventually culminating in solid black. (2) an airbrushed "bullnose" pu on each side of my '70 C-10, done full size. This truck was admired by all who saw it, it was stolen and burned however, guess someone couldn't stand the competition. Best of luck on your bowtie.
What about scallops? Almost the same effect as flames, but not as...well, common? or if you went with a dark color, you could always do phantom flames, so they would still be there but not as obvious. Good Luck and post pics when its done. Jason
well bro in my neck of the woods we like ghost flames. or phantom flames as some people may call them. i have always liked the way you can only see them when you get at the right angle. a bow tie on the truck is a must. you can't have a chevy without a bow tie. it sounds like you have a pretty clean truck. post some pics and let us know waht you decide. it will be awesome no matter what you do because in the end it is still a chevy. phil
maybe a ghost or phantom bowtie! strategically placed i think that would be cool. good luck and post pics
keep the paint combo simple so you can patch any later damage. airbrush the emblems and simulate the chrome emblems. go to a chevy vette fest like they have in chicago for 10000 more ideas 86 c10
