Shaving Trim

I just picked up a 1986 Chevy C/10 with the custom deluxe trim package on it. I would like to shave the trim off but have no clue where to start or what i will need to do this; I am not a body guy more mechanical. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I learned a bit about shaving trim/etc when I bought my last car (it already had stuff shaved, and I learned more from another forum). If you have some pics of your truck, I can give you some info on shaving some of the trim.
