shift lever pin staying in

    I have a 65 chevy c-10 1/2 ton with three speed on column
    THe pin that holds the shift lever arm to the lever housing at the base of the steering wheel always wants to work out after shifting gears around
    How do i keep the pin in and not falling out as I use the shift lever arm

    Might replace the column shifter from donor truck just the small piece thats in the middle that holds your turnsingal cam on the inside and your shifting lever on the outside thats my opion on it.Souldnt cost alot of money ,Im allways trying to save money on things.:)

    Is the pin wore out or the hole. If the hole is ok new pin, if the hole is the as said.

    The pin is a friction fit. Pull the pin and insert a flat screw driver into the gap in the side of the pin, in order to open it up a bit. Prior to inserting it into the hole, apply a bit of thread locker. Additionally, there is a black rubber grommet that covers the assembly where the shift lever meets the column. If this is missing, replace it. It will also help retain the friction pin and, at least, keep it from falling out while shifting.
