Hello everyone, I am trying to source a rear shock link but not having luck finding the style I require. The only ones available are the 'dog bone' style. What I have are factory installs, I know that because my father bought the truck new in 1948 and I have owned it for 47 years. I had this problem several years ago and needed a front link which is a bit shorter. I don't remember where I was able to find a used one but I'm on the hunt again. Any advice or directions will be greatly appreciated! Thank You, Laurel My Signature is not showing for some reason but I have bone stock 1948 AD 3100
Thanks ccharr, I wonder why they are so hard to come by? But I did find a suspension shop on the internet who may have what I need, http://www.classicautoshocks.com/#!__home/gallery I just have to wait till tomorrow to cal them. Thanks!
Thanks for the link to that, I need some shocks for my 3804, just put in a NOS master cylinder last week. After having two different stand on the brakes get the hell out of the way, oh shit I hope the SOB does not hit me calls my brakes had issues. So I also need the shocks installed and this site should get me there. Hope you get what you need.
Brakes Charles ~ Do you have Huck or Bendix brakes ? . Did the brakes refuse to lock up and the pedal kept hard but sank as they heated up and the truck stopped just in time ? . if so , look hard at the brake drums , good used ones are out there . I stopped turning old drums decades ago because I drive my oldies too dang fast and need them to lock up if needed ~ any brake that cannot be locked up , cannot be properly modulated in a panic situation . No , I never lock my brakes but I do drive ' spiritedly ' .
Nate, There are hacks on the front and 1978 Chevy 1 ton brakes on the rear. I had to put all my weight into the stop twice going to the property about a mile after the Desert Center turnoff some person fell asleep woke up before they hit the railing on a bridge over corrected, headed for me then over corrected again and spun around then almost got me the second time . After that all I had was about 2 to 3 inches of very hard pedal that barely stopped me. On the way back not far from your house some jackass came up on the freeway and thought he could just drive right through me. I had a Semi on my left and could not move and the bastard caused me to put all my weight into stopping again, the semi seen what was going on he moved over giving me some room to let the jackass around me. Monday when I took the truck to have the brakes adjusted they told me the master would not hold any fluid. Truck has some nice pedal now.
Safety Knows NO SEASON Glad to hear you're O.K. Charles , I hate those distracted drivers . Desert Center is nice , we run our Rides/Drives through it from time to time .
