Just got back from the Volkswagen restoration shop a mile or so from the shop and the owners 1970 SS Chevelle show car was toast; electrical fire. If you don't have a disconnect switch---GET ONE, even if it's just the cheapo green one with the twist knob that fits on a battery post. Doubley so if kept in an attached garage. I've never had a radio or clock that preserving it's memory was worth burning the house down.
