New to the forum. I need help in getting a proper mount for the fender well spare tire. All I have now is a hole in the bed frame that is surrounded by metal that seems to thin to support a tire. I know this has most likely been talked about before but I cant seems to find the answer I need. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do You Have The Spare Tire Bracket That Bolts to the Bed and Fender?
Sounds Like Your Half Way There, In that You Need the Rest of The Parts To Complete the Spare Tire Mount!
I do not have anything. i have seen a few bracket on-line. The recess in the left fenderwell has a hole that looks like it held the original bracket. Does anyone have a link to a website where i might buy one or maybe a diagram of how get one fabricated. The only on I saw online so far required holes in the top of the bed frame which I really dont want to do.

I Have Had One But It was On a Parts Truck I Had But I do Remember
It was Very Ridged and The Brackets Bolt To The Bed and there was
a Bracket That Bolted to the front Head Board.
I am Sure Some One Can Post a Picture Of There's And Show You The Full
Assembly, I Know I have seen Picture's In the assembly Manual,you Might Try To Find a Book Or Salvage Yard to Find One. Pretty Sure That Bracket was made Past 59 and Into the 60's Model Trucks Also.Allot Of Truck Builders
Including Myself, Opt Not to Go With the Spare Tire and Want The Cleaner
If You Will Look, So I Think You Would Be able To Find pretty Easy.
I Sold mine On Line To a Guy So I Would Ask Around !

First or second generation 55?
If it's a second generation the hole in the fender is just a clearance hole. Any of these 2nd gen. photos help? (FYI: not pictures of my truck)

I made few from some thicker iron bars
So I could be sure of the weight the have to carry.
I kept the upper bars off of the construction so I could level them with the holes I had to make on the bed rails.
My example had the upper arms cut off, so i could not copie them.
I hope this will solve your problem

Where did you find the tire mount? I've had problems looking for the same part...
My uncle is looking to fabricate/purchase a side spare mount for a 57 GMC 3/4 ton.
This link is very close to what we are looking for, but the 57 model doesn’t have the eyelet hole in the side panel for the rod to travel through. Any chance you have the plans for the frame that fits this model?
