My wife and I go to the local community center once a month for lunch on the day they serve catfish . Today there was a couple in their late 20's or early thirties with two little girls maybe four and six or there about. There is a rule against carry outs, probably to prevent the early arrivals from short changing the later ones. The husband went through the serving line and got the four allowed meals for his family and set two in front of the girls and put the other two in plastic bags. I know these were for another meal for the girls even though both he and the wife looked hungry themselves. There really is hunger in America so if you have the chance drop a canned good or any other food item at your local food bank---it's needed.
Amen to that, Evan. There is certainly hunger in America and food banks are busy everywhere. Grocery prices are rising and wages are flat in most cases. I really don't know how some make ends meet. I guess they are not. And yet, the nation continues to turn corn into fuel...
Thanks for starting this thread Evan. A lot of the welder - fabrication - laborer fellas I have known throughout the years are financially strapped due to multiple families, due to divorces. You don't hear many folks talk about that in the media, but it's hard to support two families on a laborers wages. Not makin' excuses for anybodies life choices, just saying it would be better if this stuff was discussed more, especially amongst youngsters, so they could think about how young decisions turn into life altering directions.
A Helping Hand Thanx for this thread Evan ; Helping out is The American Way not matter what fox noise tells you . Every time there's a catastrophe , AMERICA gives more than all other countries combined . It's time to give a helping hand to the folks who are hard up against it , especially with Children ~ they're innocent .
