This is for the Art Deco guys or anyone with a four piece hood. These hoods are a pain, they are floppy and one can't keep the paint nice around the piano type hinges joining the two side and two top sections. We were told there was no hinge that would allow a front opening hood by the after market hinge market people because the rear of the hood overlaps the cowl by 8" or so. You don't say "can't be done" to Rick who just happens to be familiar with the recessed area the hinge fits into on an AD truck. Here is his 37 Delivery with a front opening hood that works great and a shot of the 37 coupe getting the same treatment with the benefit of a couple of "hind sight" updates. The cable shown running past the hinge on the side shot runs through the center of the square tubing the side panels fasten to and on to the VW hood latch in the nose piece. The last pic is with the side panel in place which nearly conceals the home made pocket.
I can't wait to see how it looks all painted up with the hood opened! I thought these might be pictures of that AD that is hanging out at your shop. I'll keep waiting~ paitently...
Wow Amazingly good thinking there , no surprise coming from Evan's shop . I love the '37s " Waterfall " grille . Now all it needs is a proper InLine engine and some wide white walls........
NEVER tell a hot rodder that it won't work or it can't be done. Especially in front of your friends.....we'll always find a way to prove you wrong.
