May have been done before but searches haven't come up with anything. Doing a TF truck right now and rather than go through the digital to mechanical hassle on the speedometer (T5 trans) I thought about the 60's and 70's Olds with the speedometer driven off the left front spindle. I think VW and Porsche also used this. Tire size on the Olds would easy to find a match for in a radial and be a good size for the truck. These speedos were completely dependent on tire size for accuracy. If nothing else a gear corrector box can be installed in line in the cable. The spindle should be easy to gun bore a cable hole through (GM did it) and I have several steel speedo driven gear stems to use for the square drive on the inside of the dust cap. Might use one of the thick boat trailer dust caps to give more bearing for the square drive. Will let know if all works out.

I'm a dummy sometimes, this won't work on a truck with a straight axle---the king pin is in the way.

Evan, if you didn't think outside the box, stuff would be boring. The way I see it, Ideas are FREE.

    Keep up the good work.
